Under the World Conservation Union (IUCN) ‘red list’ olive ridley sea turtles are are considered endangered



ENDANGERED (EN) - A taxon is Endangered when it is not Critically Endangered but is facing a very high risk of extinction in the wild in the near future.

Threats to olive ridley’s vary from one region to another but include:
     
Accidental capture by fishing activities
